About Us

Kate and Neil welcome you to Valley View cottages in stunning Pembrokeshire, West Wales

We bought Valley View Cottages in October 2020 after a long search for a suitable “lifestyle” business. We fell in love with the property within minutes of arriving, even though it was raining, just after the first lockdown ended. Having already sold our house, and living in rented accommodation, the sale went through really quickly. ! Neil left his job with Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Kate arranged a ‘working from home’ arrangement (also with Cumbria Wildlife Trust). It was a wrench to leave behind all of the friends and family we had made in our 15 years in Cumbria, but a new adventure called.

Neil has a passion for wildlife, having worked in conservation for 20 years and is looking forward to building on the great work of the previous owners in making the grounds as wildlife friendly as possible. Kate has green fingers and is looking forward to growing all of her own fruit and veg which she hopes to share with guests in the future.

Kate is a keen cyclist, and so will be able to advise on suitable routes for cycling visitors, whilst Neil is looking forward to seeking out all the wildlife in the local area and will be happy to help point you in the right direction.

The original owners, Jim and Sarah moved to West Wales in October 2007, after relocating from Maidenhead, Berkshire in search of a ‘Life in the Country’. The property they found comprised of two Welsh stone barns and a detached house sitting in 3 acres of gardens and woodland, with amazing views across surrounding fields and valleys. The barns needed a huge amount of work in order to turn them into luxury holiday cottages, but plans were quickly drawn up and planning was granted at the end of March 2008. Work began immediately. Claire and Chris took over in 2016 and continued to develop the site with a dog walking area, games room and a beautiful orchard.

When you come to Valley View Cottages for your holiday, you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome from us and the barn cats Izzy and Truffle and the chickens.

We are very fortunate to be surrounded by superb wildlife, namely the magnificent buzzards which we have living in the woods at the top of the track. There is an abundance of other bird life such as red kites, woodpeckers, owls, pheasants, the rare yellowhammer (we have a pair in the garden) and many more.

We hope you will come and stay with us and experience the delights that this part of Wales has to offer.
